The House Of Blue Light (Recensione di David Sinclair)

The new climate that enables heavy rock groups capable of writing a decent chorus ( Bon Jovi, Europe) to secure major hit records has not gone unnoticed by Deep Purple, who in any case are no longer in the race to compete with the excesses of the young speed/thrash metal bands. This album is brimful of Blackmore's neat sparky guitar riffs, John Lord's soundly constructed keyboard passages and a wealth of surprisingly fresh melodic chorus material.

On Bad Attitude, Gillan out-Rodgers Coverdale, lan Paice colours The Unwritten Law with imaginative tom tom figures, and the various instrumental sections are neat, brief and purposeful throughout.

A significant improvement on 1984's Perfect Strangers.
