Ho visto in rete che circola il nome di Stormbringer (Remaster 2007) .... ne sapete qualcosa? Sapevo che si stava procedendo al Remaster con Hughes che aveva voluto essere presente all'operazione, ma non ho visto annunci ufficiali.

Che succede? Di che si tratta?

si tratta di un'edizione americana, fatta insieme a made in europe e come taste the band. Si tratta di una sola, non ci sono brani in piu' e nessun menbro del gruppo ci ha messo le mani!
Per l'edizione della emi bisognerà ancora aspettare...

Comunque non dovrebbe mancare molto alla ristampa emi, si dice fine anno ma per me si arriverà tranquilli al 2008. A questa versione collabora anche Hughes per qualche remix e ricordi vari. Non dovrebbero esserci sorprese eclatanti tra gli extra, qualche take diversa di Coverdale per Soldier, la versione strumentale di Lady Double dealer che girava sul box da 6cd e basta

Erano talmente spremuti che quello che provavano, registravano. E pubblicavano.

molte cose ritchie se le è tenute per i rainbow... e poi leggenda di quella cassetta in cui coverdale dice ci sia il riff di still of the night...

Diciamo che lo sviluppavano e registravano se Ritchie glielo permetteva (già ai tempi della Mark II tirava fuori riff e poi diceva che non si potevano usare perchè li voleva tenere per "il disco solista").
Sullo spremuti è risaputo... erano talmente a pezzi che non riuscirono neppure a incidere le parti vocali di Coronarias Redig

Sì. All'epoca comunque Coverdale provò diversi approcci alla sua parte, forse per accontentare Blackmore. Evidentemente è rimasta qualche altra versione, poi non so quale useranno

comunque strano che la mk3 non suonò mai questa song dal vivo...eppure credo che a ritchie piacesse..
la cosa più controversa è che con bolin venne inclusa nella set list dei concerti..

A Ritchie piaceva, ma lui e Coverdale si scornarono sul testo, e David vinse. Suonarla all'epoca avrebbe voluto dire ammettere la sconfitta.
E poi c'era il problema di Paice, che aveva fatto capire di non divertirsi particolarmente a suonarla.

E possibile che tutta la storia di uscita di remaster Stormbringer ha che fare con intervista che ha dato Glenn Hughes anno scorso ?

Rock N Roll Universe: There are a lot of people who would be very interested in seeing a Mark III reunion of DEEP PURPLE, with you, David Coverdale and Ritchie Blackmore reforming with Jon Lord and Ian Paice for either some live shows, or even perhaps some new recordings. If the circumstances were right, would you be interested in pursuing something along those lines?

Glenn Hughes: "I think David and I would do that. Speaking on behalf of David, and David and I have already spoken about this at Christmas. I think, at some point, you might see some kind of rumblings of this in the press. While Gillan, Glover and Paice are still out there, I don't know if it's ever going to happen. I think if that ever comes to a head, where DEEP PURPLE kind of stops touring with the two Ians and Roger, who are very nice people by the way, it might happen. I wouldn't want to step on anybody's toes and do something that's inappropriate. But I think that if you got Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord and Ian Paice together, it probably would be a very big tour. I think it would be remarkable. David and I have already discussed how great it would be for he and I to sing together. But it would only be in DEEP PURPLE. And, it would only be with Ritchie Blackmore. At my age right now, 53, things have to make sense. I don't want to do something that is wrong now. As far as wrong being perceived by the press right now. Finally, especially the British press, they're finally behind me, and they're watching very closely everything I do. I've got to kind of get things in perspective."

Rock N Roll Universe: Have you ever seriously discussed anything like this with Ritchie?

Glenn Hughes: "I haven't spoken with Ritchie about it. I haven't made that call, nobody has. I think he's enjoying his thing with his wife. I just think that, at the right time, at the right moment, the right place, it could happen. Is it today? I don't think it's right now. Is it next year? Who knows? But I think it'll be in the next 2 or 3 years if it's going to happen at all."

Official European release date for Stormbringer is January 19th 2009.

The upgraded edition will include the remastered original album, remixes by Glenn Hughes and selected stereo versions of tracks from the original quad album. It will also include a second disc with 4.1 version of the full quad album and other material. It has an exclusive slipcase and an extensive booklet.
Vinyl 2LP set also scheduled and can be preordered. There will also be a regular single CD edition a little later on.
